Q. Do I need a reservation?

A. No − walk in service is available at all times for paint your own pottery, glass mosaic and glass fusion. If you wish to host a birthday party, scout troop outing, adult group outing, or a corporate function, reservations and a non-refundable party deposit required.

Q. When will my pottery or glass fusion be ready?

A. Your pottery will be glazed, fired and ready for pick up one week after your visit. During holiday season and summer camp, pottery may take up to 10 days to be finished for pick up. The same time frame applies for glass fusion projects − glass fusion should be ready for pick up 7 to 10 days after your visit. Please pick up your pieces in a timely fashion, as we are not able to store glass or pottery for longer than 6 weeks after completion. Clay Café Studios of Chantilly will not be responsible for broken, lost or unclaimed items, which remain after 6 weeks of completion.

Q. When will my glass mosaic be ready?

A. Your glass mosaic is ready to take home the day you visit! You will receive a take home supply of grout and grouting instructions to complete your project.

Q. Can I get a rush firing?

A. Sometimes. If it is not a busy season (holiday, summer camp), we can fire items and have them ready in 4 days. Clay Café Studios of Chantilly will add a surcharge of $10.00 per piece for this service.

Q. Is the pottery food safe?

A. Yes, all Clay Café Studio pottery glazes are all lead free and nontoxic.

Q. Is the pottery microwave and dishwasher safe?

A. We do not recommend that you use your hand painted pottery in the microwave. We also recommend hand washing of all items to add to the lifetime of your artwork.

Q. Can I place special orders?

A. Yes, Clay Café Studios of Chantilly can special order unfinished bisque pieces especially for you. Full prepayment is required at the time of order and special orders are non-refundable and non-returnable.

Q. What is the minimum age for painting your own pottery? Glass fusion? Glass mosaics?

A. Any age is acceptable for paint your own pottery! Parents and grandparents are invited to assist their younger children − painting your own pottery is fun and safe for artists of all ages! Adult ‘helpers’ are not charged a studio fee. We recommend that glass mosaic and glass fusion for children 8 years and older and with adult supervision.

Q. I am not artistic − can I get a custom painted piece?

A. Yes. Contact the store manager directly and we will arrange to create a commission to your specifications.

Q. I didn’t finish my piece − can I come back to finish?

A. Yes. There is no extra charge to come back as many times as you need to finish your artwork. You will only be charged for one sitting fee per piece.

Q. I can’t make it into the Studio. Can you bring a paint your own pottery event to my location?

A. Yes. Clay Café Studios of Chantilly offers mobile pottery service called Clay to Go. We bring the fun to you and take the mess with us. Please contact the studio or visit the Clay to Go page at www.claycafechantilly.com for pricing and more information.

Q. Can I bring my own food and drink into the studio as refreshment while my group or I paint?

A. Yes. We encourage you to bring in snacks and refreshments for all parties and group events.
